First Friday Favorite of 2012! I still can't believe we are in a new year! Crazyness. So, I know that New Year's Resolutions don't really make sense with 'Friday Favorites', but I thought this would be a good place to put them. I'll share some of the goals that I have set or wish to accomplish this coming year and hopefully some of you will share yours as well!
1. Break out of my shell
I am quite shy and awkward around people especially, people I don't know. I tend to be the person people talk over in a conversation, cause they don't hear me. But when I get to know people, I'm not so quiet. So, I need to find a way to be more of myself around people I don't know, does that make any sense?
2. Find a job
I have been looking for a job for as long as I can remember. I had a job during the winter season, so that lasted about four months. But I want something through the year. I'm still in school so I understand I can't get an amazing job. At this point I'm really up for just about anything. Dream job, to work on a magazine! Doubt that will happen in the near future though. I should start applying places again.
3. Learn how to speak fluent French or Italian
This coming semester they weren't offering classes for either of these languages, so I'm going to have to wait til the fall. I took French through middle school and some of high school, but I don't remember much. I also took Italian for a semester my first year of college. For both I only now the very basics. I'm not sure which one I want to learn more, but whichever I choose in the fall, I hope I can become at least conversational at it.
4. Interview an actor or musician
Although I'd probably be horribly at it since, well, my first resolution states how awkward I am. But I would still love to do it. It would be completely awesome! I don't think I'd mind who it was either, it would just be an amazing experience!
5. Learn how to play the guitar
I wanted to learn how to play since... forever really. I once almost got a guitar, but my mother was totally faking me out. :P My friend asked me to take lessons with her, so I might just have to take her up on that. But my parents think I'm just wasting my time. Hopefully, I can talk them into it.
6. Go to more concerts
The fact that I can count all the concerts I've been to one just one hand is so sad. I hope I get to see some more concersts as the years go on! The concerts I have been to have all been great though, whether I got to meet the band or not. So ,I hope the ones I, hopefully, get to go to in the future will be just as good, or better!
7. Enjoy life
I tend to overthink, everything. This year I don't want to stress myself out so much or let other people get to me all the time. At this very moment in life, I may not be exactly where I wish I was, but I'm not in a bad place either. Everything happens for a reason, right? Well that's how I always see things. And hopefully, if I just take life as it comes and don't take everything so hard then eventually everything will work out as it should.
What are your resolutions/goals for 2012?
Last year had some pretty great movies, but now I'm ready for some new ones! Here are the movies I'm most excited for this new year! Well, if I listed all of them for the entire year this would be an incredibly long list. So, how about from January to June? Then when June rolls up, I'll give you the second half of my list! Let's get right into it!
Red Tails - January 20
WWII movie, nuff said.
21 Jump Street - March 16
This looks very interesting, especially since it doesn't seem to have the same vibe of the original show. That could be a good or bad thing. But I'm enjoying the trailer, bromance overload.
The Hunger Games - March 23
Excitment is not even the word. I cannot even contain myself!
American Reunion - April 6
American Pie was my first Rated R movie ever. You never forget your first. ;)
Think Like a Man - April 20
Normally, I don't watch movies like this, cause there have been so many like this, they all look the same. But it has Kevin Hart, Ramany Malco and Michael Ealy. Oh, and Jerry Ferrara, Entourage loving!
The Avengers - May 4
Super hero OVERLOAD!
Battleship - May 18
Peter Berg and Taylor Kitsch at it again, their history is more than enough to get me to see this. Texas Forever.
Brave - June 22
Pixar does no wrong! I am not afraid to sound like a little kid, I love animated movies! This looks fantastic.
Perks of Being a Wallflower - TBA
There is no trailer or release date out, but I wanted to express my excitement!
Which movies are you excited about this year?
This is going to be my last official blog post of 2011. As many great things that started and was released in 2011, some things also came to an end. Here are a few shows that came to an end this year, that I will miss.
I remember when this show started. It was so cute and light and very ABC Family. I loved the show, especially in the beginning. Ashley was my favorite girl and Dale was my favorite guy! Cappie was awesome too. When Jesse McCartney and Plain White T's where on it! That was great! Oh and my lover Dave Franco was in it too. And they even referred to him being in Scrubs after he left the show! Check it out, 3:55, his name was Gonzo in Greek.
This show is so good! I'm glad they chose to end it though, cause it would have lasted as long as they were willing to work I'm sure. I don't think anyone would have cancelled a show having Kyra Sedgwick as the lead. But, if they didn't end it soon, it would have just started dragging. Sedgwick is brilliant as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson! I love how she was always sneaking chocolate!
I actually just came across this show this year! And now it's over... So sad. It was gritty and hilarious. Denis Leary's character is quite interesting, a firefighter who survived 9/11. Who becomes addicted to anything and everything. Then there is Franco who's hot, very hot. And Sean Garrity who is freaking HIlarious!
My boys :(... What will I do without you guys? I understand the show ran it's course and wasn't as good as when it began, but I would have kept watching my boys no matter what. I made quite a few posts about the show as it was ending, and now that it's gone, I can't even believe it. There have been talks they are making a movie, but I would have much rather just had a few more episodes of this past season. Anyways, this show will be with me forever. I remember I came across it a couple years ago when the entire series thus far was free On Demand, and I sat there and watched the entire 3 seasons I missed! It was love at first sight. Here is the one scene that has always been my favorite!
Friday Night Lights
Honestly, one of the best series ever created. Coach and Tami Taylor, the best married couple on television, I vote hell yes! From beginning to end this show was solid. Normally when shows take place with high schoolers, when the new generation starts things aren't as good. But I loved the new kids just as much as the old ones. Speaking of the kids, Tim Riggens and Matt Saracen forever and always, my lovers. Tyra, Laundry, Vince, Jess, Luke, every single one of these characters were just amazing. The show never got a huge following, but those of us who watched it, were quite passionate. And that's why we were lucky to get five seasons. The series finale, one of the best. I watched it while I was in school and started balling. Like a weirdo, I regret nothing. Texas Forever!
What will you miss from 2011?
This is my last Friday Favorite of the year! I cannot even believe it! I wonder how many of them I've done so far. I think I started in September... Maybe I should be keeping track of these... Hopefully, you guys are enjoying them, cause I intend on continuing! Although I have not been on Buzznet for an entire year, there have been loads of great television, movies, music! I thought I'd share my favorites from the year 2011!
Now I already have a very extensive blog on my favorite television shows from 2011, but I forgot to include some. If you haven't checked it out yet, go HERE! Check it out to see what you should be watching! Here are the shows I should have added into that list:
Game of Thrones
I just actually wrote a blog about this show! So, to show you how much I love it go read that HERE!
Everytime I watch this show, I'm thrown for a loop. The show is about a high school girl who is killed and a detective, Sarah Linden, tries to solve the case. Even though Linden is supposed to move away to get married, every time she gets on the plane a new lead strikes up and she goes to follow it. Whenever one of the suspects look guilty another looks 5x as guilty. Once you start you won't stop! I really want to know who killed her!
I can't believe I forgot to mention this show, cause I have been on such a withdrawl from it! Yes, it is a rip-off of a British show, but I hadn't seen that or known of it's existence until I saw the US version. Anyways, I just love it. It is funny and quirky, and the cast is fantastic. There are so many different personalities, it is always interesting! Personally, Lip, Ian and Debby are my favorites!
I have yet to see many of the movies I wanted, but of the few that I saw here are my favorites!
This was a great pairing! I love Joseph-Gordon Levitt! Honestly, who doesn't? He is adorable and has this bad-assness about him at the same time. Plus, Seth Rogen, his voice alone cracks me up! It was just so funny and heartwarming. I hope they team up together again in the future! My favorite line from the movie:
Crazy, Stupid, Love
I feel like I talked about this movie somewhere in my blogs before, or maybe that was just me admiring Ryan Gosling. Cause that happens about once a week! With or without Ryan Gosling, I would have still loved this movie, although he really helped! Great cast and cute story!
Overall, my favorite this year! I need to go read the book. And since the movie was that amazing, I can just imagine how great the book will be! Once again, another incredible cast. And the story was terrific!
Some really great albums came out this year! I'm having a hard down narrowing this down, so it's gonna be a bit long... Sorry!
21 - Adele
She is just an amazing artist. Her songs are so relatable and her voice is stunning. From beginning to end I love this album. Her performance at the VMA's this year? Breathtaking!
El Camino - The Black Keys
Love these two! Their sound is so unique and they make great music. I was looking forward to this album, since I loved the last, and it did not disappoint! This video, hahah.
Barton Hallow - The Civil Wars
My favorite new artist of this year! I've been listening to their album non-stop for the past few weeks. Great music!
Take Care - Drake
No way I could not include this, you know that's right! ;) Check out the post I made just for the album HERE! Here's his latest video... I would have made a post about it, but I was disappointed in the video, but I LOVE the song!
Torches - Foster the People
Totally fell for them with the rest of the world this year. I feel like such a bandwagoner with them, but they are just too good! The album is fantastic. Listen to it, they are more than just Pumped Up Kicks! Love this song and video:
Sweeter - Gavin Degraw
I mentioned before that he is my favorite singer of all-time! I am so happy he came out with a new album this year, and of course I lurve it!
Cole World: The Sideline Story - J. Cole
He has released 4 or 5 free mixtapes, which were seriously albums in itself. It was about time he finally made his share for his incredible work. Definitely one of the most talented rappers of his generation!
Watch the Throne - Jay-Z and Kanye West
Dynamic Duo. I may have mentioned this in one of my blogs before too, but this album in whole is legendary. Two of my favorite rappers together. It is just a masterpiece, even the cover!
That's it for my Friday Favorites for 2011! Sorry if this was a bit too long. I hope you enjoyed them. Now I gotta think of what I'm going to be doing next year... I don't want to be repetitive. Well I have a week to decide what I'm going to do for the first Friday of 2012.
What are your favorites of 2011? TV, movies, and/or music!
Did you guys enjoy 2011? Are you ready for 2012?
A late Christmas present? I mean seeing these two together is always a treat! Zooey Deschanel and Joseph-Gordon Levitt got together and made all of us a New Year's Eve music video! Check it out!
Are you guys melting at how adorable this is?! Two of the cutest people in the business, being cute! Don't you think they should get married and have adorapibble babies together? For real, get to it you two! Or at least keep making more music together, Joe, you need to become the Him to her She! Who's with me?
Are you guys liking the duet? Do you think these two would make a great couple?
What are you doing New Year's Eve?!
I finally got a chance to watch this show, and I'm in love with it! Winter break has really helped me catch up with my shows. I have caught up on 6 shows thus far! I finished the entire season of this show within 2 days! Really, I need to get a life. But it was just so good. I have never read the books, so I'm not a true fan I suppose, to some anyways. However, the story is so interesting and surprising. Especially the last two episodes, I was like WHAT?! What?! I still can't get over it, just WHAT?! I don't want to give away what happened, cause the point of this blog is to get you guys who haven't seen the show, to go and start!
The show is based off of a series created by George R. R. Martin. So if you're a reader, I'm guessing the books are just as good or better than the show! The show mainly focuses on 3 different families, the Stark's, Lannister's, and Targaryen's. The Stark's are probably the ultimate main focus, especially this first season led by Ned Stark, the man of the North. He and his wife have 5 children along with an illegitimate son Jon Snow, who be my favorite. Their family can be described as loyal, the family you are always rooting for. Ned is the man that you love for his loyalty and humbleness. And he is highly intelligent as well as modest. His wife, Catelyn, tends to get on my nerves most of the time though. As does their older daughter Sansa, she is quite the brat. But even she deserved what was coming her way. I love all the younger children, especially Arya, the fact that she wants to learn how to sword fight and everyone thinks she's a boy. Love it. And Robb, the oldest son, is much like his father, I hope he continues in that next season! And of course Jon, if you see the show, you'll know why I love him. I just want to hold him.
Then the Lannister's. Ughh, what an awful family. Well minus Tyrion, he's awesome. The other two, Cercei and Jamie, just awful people. They truely deserve each other. Obviously, every show needs a protagonist. And Cercei's son Joffrey, my goodness! Is there a more repulsing kid? He's like Malfoy, but worse! I liked Tom Felton, not this kid! Every time he comes on the screen, this is what I feel like doing, get him Tyrion!
The Targaryen's, I actually am not sure if that is their family name, but that's Daenerys's last name. The show starts with her and her brother, Viserys, who is just as repulsive as the Lannister's. But I rather love Daenerys. She starts off very timid and naive, but really grows to be a very strong woman, especially when she meets Drogo. I love their storyline, it got better and better as the season went on. I can't wait to see more of her next season!
Well that is just a basic outline of who you would come across on the show. It is a great show! Fantastically written and presented. Since it takes place in a whole different time and land, it is very interesting because it all seems like such a fantasy, yet has so many elements that are realistic. I was hooked right away! Now I don't want to give away too much, cause I want you all to go and check it out! It only comes back in April of 2012, so you have some time to go catch up before Season 2 begins. There are only 10 episodes of Season 1, so no excuses. Go watch it!
Have you seen the show?
Who is your favorite character? What was your favorite part of Season 1?
Hey everyone, hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Beginning in December I made a wishlist of things I would love for Christmas. You can go check out the full list here! Now, I have a feeling that some of my friends were creeping onto my page here, cause I got quite a few things that I mentioned. I was really surprised and so happy! I love my friends :) Since, I posted all those photos, I thought I'd share what I got this year.
Sweet Smelly Sprays - These always come in handy!
Ring, Nail Polish, Earrings, Earrings, and more Earrings! - Considering earrings are really the only jewelry I wear, yay for more! :) The birdy ones are so cool!
Cookies and Brownie Cupcake - You know I scarfed these down!
Pretty Scarf - Finally! Been looking so long! It's pretty and comfy!
DVDs - Can't even lie, I got 3 of these for myself. Merry Christmas to me! There were so many great sales, I couldn't help myself. But Planet of the Apes my friend gave to me, cause she got it for White Elephant and didn't want it. I was like James Franco! I take him home!
Bazinga & Batman T-Shirts - What?! Awesomeness!
I love everything I got! Thanks to everyone, even though they probably won't see this. But it's still awesome! Now I know I'm gonna do this every year, and I can just update it! lol.
Also, I thought I would throw out there, I was thinking of doing the 365 photo thingy that a lot of you do, cause it looks awesome and I've loved seeing you guys do it! And it will probably help me become a better photographer. I know it is quite a commitment though, should I or shouldn't I? I think it would be cool to see if I could actually do it! What do you guys think?
What did all of you get for Christmas?
Hope you all got what you wanted!
Only 2 more days til Christmas everyone! Can you believe it? Cause I sure can't! This year is just buzzing by! So, this month all my Friday Favorites have been dedicated to Christmas. Check out my favorite Christmas Songs and Christmas TV Episodes! Now for my last Christmas post of 2011, my favorite Christmas Movies!
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
I have this movie on VHS! And I love it! I feel like it's the one Dr. Suess movie that actually worked. I don't know if any of you saw Cat in the Hat, but it was not good... Any-whos it was also the last time I really liked Jim Carrey in anything. Plus, Dr. Suess is classic and I love his stories! Oh come to think of it, I love the people version and the cartoon version! Let's not forget about the song!
Will Ferrell at his finest? I think yes. I mean after I saw this, I want a Buddy! That movie from beginning to end is just hilarious! Smiling is my favorite too.
A Christmas Story
All my movies are classics, but this one always stands out! I only watched it sometime in high school because I'm slow like that. I mean it's on all day every year this time! I don't know how I missed it! And this scene! Omg, my mom does this to me still!!!! Story of my life.
The Santa Clause
I grew up on this movie! Love love love! I still watch it, and it's like the first time I watched it all over again! Tim Allen eating all those yummy things in his meeting and everyone looking at him like he was crazy! Charlie was such a little cutie pie! And Bernard, omg Bernard. No matter what you do David Krumholtz, you will forever be Bernard to me. Forever.
I have expressed my love for this movie many a times. Christmas or any time of the year, it never gets old! KEVIN! You are my hero! There are not even words to describe this movie. If you don't love it, you are no longer my friend. I mean who doesn't want to ride a sled down their staircase? And have a party with cardboard cut-outs?
What's your favorite Christmas/Holiday movie?
Next Friday: Friday Favorites: 2011!
I feel like I'm slacking with my blogs. There hasn't been a person that interesting for my Cutest Couple polls, and I decided I'm only doing birthdays for milestones. Like 20/25/30... so on. Cause I did one too many in a short span. Plus, what would I do different each year? Anywhos, Current Obsession works because it's what I'm into right now! So let's get to it!
Young the Giant, I am completely in love with their debut self-titled album. The entire album is just great beginning to end. Of course, like many, the first song I heard from them was 'My Body'. My friend and I were in the car and it came on and we were like this song! We always hear it and then never know who it's from. So, I finally looked it up. And now I can't stop!
Can we also talk about the fact that the lead singer is BROWN! Umm, that never happens, especially when they are amazing like this! Then again, unlike most band/artist websites there is no information about the bandmates themselves. Which is good and bad. Good because it lets us focus on their music, bad cause I can't obsess over them. Not only is he brown, but so is their bassist! What, mind blown! These days I'm actually liking brown people. What is going on with me? What I'm getting at is that Sameer is hottalicous, and so is Francois(not brown).
Anyway, back to their music. Other than 'My Body' I'm loving 'I Got', 'Islands', 'St. Walker', 'God Made Man', 'Your Side', and 'Garands'. But seriously the entire album is just amazing. Go check it out if you haven't yet! You won't regret it! There is a very light feeling about their music that I love. I like to call it sleepy music, not that it was bore you to sleep, more like a John Mayerish feel. It's very calming. Also, their song 'St. Walker' I mentioned has a very eerie sound which I love! Oh, I can't get over them. Their album is self-titled, Young the Giant. Get it! Now!
Also, can I just vent for a second about how their tickets are all sold out here in Philly! Major depression. I hope they come back soon! Well, they are only coming in March, and it's already sold out! I hope they make another date here! I want to see them live SO bad! Here's one more video!
Any Young the Giant fans? What's your favorite song?
What are your current musical obsessions?
Alright you guys here goes my round-up! I hope you all had fun, cause I loved seeing what you all came up with! The Assignment was W is for Wonder or Wonderful or Wonderland. Any form of Wonder. Here's what some of the cool Buzzneters came up with! Sit back and enjoy!
First up Susannah wondered if she'd make it home alive. I think she got through it just fine!
Bizarreland wonders if she'll get to run into Britney Spears at her Walmart! Umm how awesome is that!?
