I am constantly in the look for new shows to get obsessed with, so Fox's latest half hour comedy Enlisted came at the perfect time. Slowly, I am catching up with all the shows I am behind on, but I just love starting a new show and watching live! I had mentioned this show back when I did my Fall 2013 TV Guide post, but for some reason or another the premiere date got pushed back. It was about time they finally released it!
Enlisted premiered two weeks ago, on a Friday night. Literally the death slot. Which is so not cool, because this show is funny and I love the cast! Just like I mentioned in my last post, Chris Lowell, yes please! I've been a fan of his forever now, and I was so excited to see that he was back on TV. If you don't know him, he was Piz on Veronica Mars, Dell on Private Practice and he was in The Help, among other things! Then there's Geoff Stults, who I can never forget as Ben from my long phase with 7th Heaven back in the day. And the youngest brother is played by Parker Young, who is completely ridiculous in Suburgatory. It is too funny how stupid his character is on that show, and he isn't too far off on this one either. But the fact that Fox has not only pushed the premiere date back by so many months, then they had to air it on a Friday. That really shows that they are just trying to get it cancelled. You'd think the network would at least try to help out a show that is just starting.
If you haven't checked it out yet, Enlisted is about a family of three brothers who are all in the US Army. The eldest, Sergeant Pete Hill(Geoff Stults), was in active duty in Afghanistan. But after a dispute with a superior officer he was demoted and sent to a military base in Florida, where his younger brothers Corporal Derrick Hill(Chris Lowell) and Private Randy Hill(Parker Young) are stationed. The three brothers alone are entertainment enough, but to see Pete come back from active duty to supervise a platoon filled with less than enthusiastic soldiers is too funny. He takes his job very seriously and just wants to go back to Afghanistan. Where Derrick really could care less about being a soldier, it just seems that he thought that is the only thing he could be. And then there is Randy who has dreams to be a super soldier, but doesn't have the skills, but has a heart of pure gold.
It is a nice combination of both a family and buddy comedy. This is definitely a show worth checking out if you like a good lighthearted comedy. I've loved the first two episodes and can't wait to check out the rest of the season! Basically, I need you guys to go watch this show, so I can keep watching it!
The first two episodes are up on Hulu and the Fox website for free! You can catch Enlisted on Fox on Fridays at 9:00/8:00c!
