The 2013 Oscars: My Picks
Did you guys have fun with the polls? It all leads up to tonight! Just hours away, and I really hope I can con my brother into letting me watch his TV tonight! As the biggest movie/television dork, you know I live for these award shows. I mean, a couple weeks ago I wrote my public speaking speech on the Oscars. I'm that legit. I may have a problem... Anywhos, here are my picks and who I think will win! If you live under a rock and don't know who and which movies are nominated, check out the list HERE!
Best Picture
My Pick/Will Win - Argo
I really hope that the Academy goes on with the Argo winning streak. It was a fantastic movie, and like I've said before, everyone knows Ben Affleck was snubbed for Best Director, so the movie needs some kind of recognition. It is tough because this year had SO many great movies. I've seen all but Amour, Life of Pi and Beasts of the Southern Wild. And out of all of the others, my top choice would be Argo. Just because I know some of my other favorites will get love in the other categories.
Best Actor
My Pick/Will Win - Daniel Day-Lewis
If you haven't seen Lincoln, you should. But even if you haven't, I know that when you watched the trailer or saw a poster you wondered if it was a documentary. Because I am convinced that Lincoln is still alive. Academy, why even bother nominating anyone else? Just give this man all of the awards. And it is kind of a shame, because Bradley Cooper definitely delivered the performance of his career. Hopefully, he will get more chances, but his performance was nothing short of amazing. But as they say, it's an honor just to get nominated.
Best Actress
My Pick/Will Win - Jennifer Lawrence
And like I mentioned, every movie should get some kind of a recognition through these categories. Lawrence is pretty much a full on A-List star now. And deservingly so. She was terrific in the movie and really gave a personable, witty performance. And that is why Jessica Chastain unfortunately will not win. No one will deny that Zero Dark Thirty was anything short of perfection, but because Chastain's role was not 'relatable' she has not been getting the award love. But she delivered a great performance as a strong independent woman, so you got to give her credit for that. It just doesn't seem to be enough to mess with JLaw's winning streak.

Best Supporting Actress
My Pick - Sally Field
Will Win - Anne Hathaway
There is this hilarious page I found trolling through the interwebs about Hathahaters. I didn't know I belonged to a group! It makes me happy to know that I am not the only one, and yet at the end it says how, there is really no reason for people not to like her, you just don't cause you don't want to. But I do know why I don't like her! It's cause I LOVE my childhood movies, cause, I mean, that's what shaped me into such an avid movie go-er. And I freaking loved The Princess Diaries, and I just can't stand when actors/actresses try so hard to get away from an image that got them to where they are. You know, like when Zach Morris tried so hard to stop being Zach Morris. Umm, why would you ever want to stop being the coolest guy in school? He eventually realized he should stop denying it and embrace it, now I love him again. Anne Hathaway, why would you want to stop being the Princess of Genovia?! Ok, rant over.
But, this bitch dies in the first 15 minutes and you are telling me she deserves all the awards? The fact she ate just ratishes for months for 15 minutes is not dedication, it is straight up insanity. Sally Field has been awesome FOREVER! And everyone is talking about how much Anne Hathaway did for this role. Well people, Sally Field fought for her role too! And she was freaking amazing as Mrs. Lincoln! Oh how happy I would be for this upset!
Best Supporting Actor
My Pick - Alan Arkin
Will Win - Robert De Niro or Tommy Lee Jones
I love old men, so the category makes me so happy period. Minus Philip Seymore Hoffman, I will never understand The Master, and I just want to forget I ever saw it. But I do lurve me some Christoph Waltz.
And my pick.

Any further explanation necessary? I didn't think so. Ugh, Alan Arkin, you won my heart in this movie. He definitely had my favorite performance in the movie. However, the Academy loves some Robert De Niro, I mean who doesn't? I love him too. And he, along with everyone in Silver Linings, gave a terrific performance. Plus, this is the first time in 21 YEARS, he has gotten nominated. He has a very good shot at the golden statue. And I think everyone wants to see Tommy Lee Jones win, just to see his expression. And he also gave a wonderful performance in Lincoln. Bascially, I don't care who wins as long as it's NOT Hoffman.
Best Director
My Pick - Steven Spielberg/David O. Russell
Will Win - Ang Lee
I have the feeling it's going to be Ang Lee, because Life of Pi was so visually stunning. I haven't seen the movie, so I don't really favor it in any way. But, because of how much I loved Lincoln and Silver Linings, I am of course rooting for those directors. Oh and Ben Affleck got snubbed. :/
Best Animated Feature
My Pick/Will Win - Wreck-It Ralph
If Wreck-It Ralph doesn't win, I will be SO upset! Brave won the Golden Globe, and I loved Brave, but not nearly as much as Wreck-It Ralph. I think everyone can agree with me on that. That movie was beyond adorapibbles and I can't wait til it comes out so I can has it forever! But... The Academy loves Pixar, so it's a toss-up.

Will you be watching tonight? Who are you rooting for?
