What To Watch: The Following
As if I haven't been posting enough TV things lately, here's another one! There are more shows I watch, a lot more, that I don't recap. This show just started a few weeks ago, and I'm hooked! At first, I thought it looked cheesy, cause all the promos and stuffs were all like, "the new Kevin Bacon show," so I didn't take it seriously...but then I gave it a shot.
My mind is blown - this show is CRAZY! It is a mixture of a lot of things: crime drama/serial killer/procedural, a little bit of everything. If you get scared easy or can't stand too much blood, then this is not for you. But if you are not bothered by that, it is very interesting and just insane.
The main premise follows Kevin Bacon's character, Ryan Hardy, a former FBI agent. He no longer is, due to the last case he had which involved serial killer, Joe Carroll. I know, so many shows with serial killers and the cops trying to find them! There are probably many of them out there still. I, for one, love Dexter even though I'm so behind.
This show is a bit different though, in the sense that it definitely has a procedural vibe, but it all has to do with Joe Carroll's following. Carroll, in flashbacks, looks like a great guy. He has a wife and is a professor and just looks normal. I am sure he was until he started getting into his own head. He specifically studied Edgar Allen Poe, who happens to be the inspiration behind all the murders.
You see, Hardy was able to catch Carroll and get him locked up, back in the day. But in the pilot he escapes, and that's when the cops get in contact with Hardy again, because they need his help. Things really get crazy when we learn that Carroll turned one of the prison guards into his following, and literally taught him how to be a serial killer. This prison guard ended up giving Carroll all the access he wanted, key being the Internet. Carroll has developed his own following and is now using them to carry out his plans, all the while he is just sitting in jail.

There have only been three episodes so far, so quick - catch up! But like I said there is a lot of gore and killing stuffs, if you can't handle it, skip this show. It's been getting a lot of bad rep for its violence, but let's be honest, there are worse things out there. If you can watch AHS, you can watch this. Anyway, this is just scratching the surface of this show, so much more is going on already!
Oh and if that doesn't sound interesting, you can watch to see this face. He plays a 'follower', but he is so freaking pretty. Hey Nico Tortorella ;)

You're welcome.
Have you checked it out? Will you?
What did you think?
