Golden Globes 2013: My Picks
I cannot wait for this year's Golden Globes tonight! So excited to see who wins, but even more excited to see Tina Fey and Amy Poehler host! Those two funny gals alone will make watching the show worth it! Well, I kind of live for this stuff. I don't know how one gets into the panel of judges or whatnot, but considering I would love to get involved with television and movies someday, this is kind of the best award show.
This past year had some great movies and some terrific seasons in TV. I would argue that this year was better than last. Here are my picks and who I think will actually win.
Movies
Best Picture - Drama
My Pick: This is super difficult, cause all of the movies are terrific. I however have yet to see Zero Dark Thirty and I have no intention of watching Life of Pi. For me it comes down to Argo and Lincoln. This is such a tough call, but I am going to go with Argo, just because the overall movie I enjoyed more. If we are talking specific performances, you'll see my love in other categories.
Will Win: Hard to tell. The Globes are a lot more open than the Oscars, there really never is a sure answer. I would not be surprised if Zero Dark Thirty took it home. It is definitely between that, Lincoln and Argo though.
Best Picture - Comedy
My Pick/Will Win: Silver Linings Playbook, hands down. I would argue this movie would win in the drama category as well. It was a terrific movie, and everyone should give it a watch.

Best Director
My Pick: I have to give this to either Ben Affleck or Kathryn Bigelow for being ripped off on an Oscar nomination. Considering both are couple of the best movies of the year. I keep leaning for Argo just cause I saw it and it was great. But I would not be mad if Bigelow took it home because the movie looks wonderful.
Will Win: I am 99% sure Tarantino is not in the running. If Affleck or Bigelow do not take it home it will be Ang Lee or Steven Spielberg. It is a close call though, anyone can take it home this year.
Best Actor - Drama
My Pick/Will Win: Daniel-Day Lewis, is there even a competition? That man is incredible! Lincoln would not have been half as good as it was without this man who literally walks, talks and breaths Lincoln. One of the best performances, ever.
Best Actress - Drama
My Pick/Will Win: Jessica Chastain would be my call, because one, I am dying to see this movie, and two I have not even heard of the other movies.

Best Actor - Comedy
My Pick: Bradley Cooper, because I loved Silver Lingings. However, I have not seen any of the other films, so I am very bias. He did a great job though, he made his character very authentic and real.
Will Win: I hope that the Globes don't piss me off and give this to Hugh Jackman just because he's Hugh Jackman. I do see a possibility for Jack Black to win though.
Best Actress - Comedy
My Pick/Will Win: Jennifer Lawrence, she is up against some serious actresses, Meryl Streep, her idol, and Maggie Smith. However, this movie and her performance was definitely the best this year. By far one of the best young actresses around.
Best Supporting Actor
My Pick/Will Win: Alan Arkin. This is such a tough catergory because everyone but Philip Seymor Hoffman is amazing! I hated The Master, so he's out of my running. But Christoph Waltz, is my lover. Tommy Lee Jones was fantastic in Lincoln. I even enjoyed Leonardo DiCaprio in Django. But Alan Arkin totally brightened up Argo with his humor. He was just amazing.
Best Supporting Actress
My Pick/Will Win: People keep saying Anne Hatheway, if she wins, s*** is going down. I freaking cannot stand her, in movies. And Sally Fields was freaking amazing, I said earlier that Lincoln wouldn't have been half as good without Daniel Day-Lewis. So it is safe to say that half was already fantastic with just Sally Fields. She gave it her all in that movie, and really worked her butt off to get that role. She deserves this more than anyone.
Television
Best Series - Drama
My Pick/Will Win: It has to be between Homeland and Breaking Bad. It is hard to choose because both are fantastic. I would love to see Breaking Bad take it home because I believe this is their last year.
Best Series - Comedy
My Pick/Will Win: Girls, Girls, Girls! I would love this, especially since the new season premieres tonight too! Just to see them all go up there and be so young and awesome would be great. Let's be honest, Smash getting nomintated is a joke. Episodes doesn't stand much of a chance. Modern Family wins too much. And Big Bang Theory, well if they won, I'd be happy too.

Best Actor - Drama
My Pick/Will Win: Once again down to these two shows, it's either giong to be Bryan Cranston or Damien Lewis. I know that people are loving Homeland these days, but Cranston totally deserves some more awards before he's done!
Best Actress - Drama
My Pick: Connie Britton, cause no one gave her anything for Friday Night Lights, it's time to make up for your mistakes award shows! She is just as fantastic and fabulous as ever and does a terrific job in Nashville.
Will Win: Claire Danes, because I don't think there will ever be an award show where she doesn't win something.
Best Actor - Comedy
My Pick: Jim Parsons, as usual. There isn't a character I love more on television right now. And Jim Parsons is just the cutest, I say this about him for every single award show! I love him!
Will Win: His main competition is Louis C.K. who has been doing pretty great these past couple years. I just haven't seen his show yet.
Best Actress - Comedy
My Pick/Will Win: It would be great if it was the year of the Girls and Lena Dunham took it home, because she's freaking kick-ass. I'd love to see Zooey win too. But Lena would have the edge.
Best Supporting Actor
My Pick/Will Win: WHY HASN'T MAX GREENFIELD WON ALREADY???? PLEASE! Somebody get it right ASAP! Unfortunately I think he could lose to Mandy Perkins, who is also terrific on Homeland. If Schmidt wins though, everything else wouldn't even matter!

Best Supporting Actress
My Pick/Will Win: I don't care for this category. I have to say I don't really care for Hayden Panetierre in general, but she's pretty good on Nashville. I'm gonna go with Maggie Smith though, cause she is awesome.
