You know I have to put in my two cents. I really did not see some of these snubs coming... But let's start with the good, eh?
The Good: All the love for Lincoln and Silver Linings Playbooks, look at all those nominations. Everyone from those projects completely deserve it. I watched Silver Linings for the second time yesterday and I plan on watching Lincoln again. They were by far two of the best movies last year. I suppose I'm content with the overall Best Picture and Actor/Actress categories... And of course animation is wonderful, as long as Wreck-It Ralph wins! And if not them, it best be Brave!
The Bad: The nominations are not too bad this year, aside from a few snubs. Argo got some love here and there, but the fact Ben Affleck was not nominated for Best Director, beyond ridiculous. As well as Katheryn Bigalow for Zero Dark Thirty, what though? It is definitely a tight category, but I am very surprised. I knew that Perks of Being a Wallflower had no chance for Best Picture, but I was rooting for a nomination at least for screenplay. I get the Best Picture/Directing nomination for Life of Pi, because it's an Ang Lee film, but Perks should have gotten their spot for Adapted Screenplay.
This years nominations are not horrible and yet not ideal. I will definitely make a Who I Want/Who Will Win blog sometime closer to the event.
What do you think about this years nominations?
Will you be tuning in?
