For some reason, I am not nearly as excited about the nominations this year as I was last year... But I have watched so many movies this year, a lot of them are not on this list though. I have been slacking on my TV cause of school, but even with those nominations, not really feeling it.
The Good: All Lincoln and Argo nominations. Definitely two of my favorite movies of the year, and in general, the best movies of the year. I cannot wait to watch Zero Dark Thirty and Django Unchained, I'm just going to go on a limb and say I will love it, so in advance YAY for those noms. Especially Christoph Waltz, cause I have a creepy sort of crush on him. And the animated movies are fine, I'm definitely rooting for Wreck-It Ralph! I'm surprised they didn't nominate The Lorax though, I thought that was cute.
In terms of TV woot for Boardwalk nominations! And can you guys believe this is the first time Breaking Bad is nominated for best show? It is about freaking time, Globes. And I finally got into Homeland this year, so now I know what all the fuss is about, it is really good! All the girl loving for Girls and New Girl! Oh and Schmidt, of course. It's always nice to see Big Bang Theory and Jim Parsons nominated. And finally, I am so happy for Nashville, but most especially Connie Britton!
The Bad: I'm sorry, where is Batman? Because, I love him and he's freaking awesome. Oh and the movie was alright... !? They got nothing. No Christian Bale. No Tom Hardy. No Christopher Nolan. Excuse me?! Now I know why I'm not excited. Christian Bale could have totally been nominated instead of Richard Gere. And Tom Hardy could have taken DiCaprio's spot. Listen, I need to get on this board of people to knock some sense into them.
Last year they had 6 nominations for Best Drama and Comedy Category, so it was tighter. But, they also actually nominated some legit comedies last year. Remember Bridesmaids and 50/50? This year, the closest is Silver Linings Playbook, which I totally understand getting nominated. However, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, no. I didn't even know it was a comedy... It definitely wasn't a musical, that's for sure. I completely understand the people getting nominated, cause there are some legendary actors, but the movie, makes no sense. Especially since the best comedy of the year was 21 JUMP STREET!
Another one, I know it didn't get much attention, but one of my favorite movies of the year was Seven Psychopaths, and it got no love from anything or anyone! The Globes always go for the underdogs, which is why there are so many random movies like Salmon Fishing in the Yemen nominated, but they didn't make the exception for my movie.
We didn't even get into TV yet, did we? Game of Thrones anyone? It was snubbed in every direction possible. Ridonkulous. Also, why is Smash nominated? If they really wanted a musical, they could have just nominated Glee again. Or nominate a show people actually watch like New Girl, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, or ANYTHING!
I think that's enough ranting, right? I might be even more frustrated simply cause I'm in the middle of finals. But what do you guys think?
Are you happy with the nominations? Do you care?
Who do you want to see win?
You'll ♥
