Friday Favorites: October 2012 Movies
No idea how happy I am this week is over! Woot! Can't wait for a relaxing weekend. Can you guys believe Halloween is just a few days away? CRAZY!
This month I had quite a productive movie month! I saw a bunch of stuff and am excited to share with you. How does one become a movie critic - because considering how many movies I watch, I think I should be getting paid for this. Anyway let's get right into it, this is gonna be long!
Argo
The story is so interesting. I love movies based off of true stories, so this one was a guarentee good movie for me. The movie was made pretty well too and had a great cast. It is definitely one to watch. I wish that the characters had a bit more developement, cause no particular character stood out. But the ensemble as a whole was great. The script was fantastic and definitely kept you at the edge of your seat.
End of Watch
I REALLY wanted to like this movie... I see why people have raved about it so much, but I think all the hype ruined it for me. I cannot stand when I know the end of the movie at the beginning, unless it's based off a true story. Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena had great chemistry, and they had a funny, adorable bromance going on. I love Michael Pena in general and he is terrific in the movie. I however blame Gyllenhaal for not liking the movie cause I believe he curses movies for me. The only one I've ever liked from him is October Sky, which was based of a true story. So, you know. It's his fault I didn't like it. Or so I shall keep telling myself.

House at the End of the Street
This movie was beyond cheesy, and I knew it going in. But Max Thieriot is hot and I love him, so it was great seeing him in a movie. Once again, my friend and I knew how it was gonna end, 'cause it was so obvious. But it was a good laugh.
Looper
I didn't know what to expect going into the movie, and I really don't know what to think coming out. It was interesting. I will give it that. The concept was intriguing. But I think I've just seen too many movies at this point, that the ending is always so obvious. I have to say though, the little boy in the movie totally stole the screen. I absolutely loved him, and that tiny cutie could ACT! He was fantastic. There was a lot more I wanted from the movie, but I didn't hate it.
This movie was all right. I didn't love it or hate it. I enjoyed the cast a lot, especially Rebel Wilson. I'm pretty much obsessed with her these days. Most of the music in the movie was pretty good, I loved Anna Kendrick rapping. However, if I never heard 'I Saw the Sign' again in my life, I wouldn't mind. And the guys were adorable. Plus, I kind of fell for Skyler Astin who played Jesse, such a cutie.

Seven Psychopaths
Ok, this may just be my favorite movie of the year. It was written and directed by Martin McDonagh who made In Bruges, aka one of my favorites. The movie started out as a pleasent surprise, one I'm not gonna give away. But that pretty much set the tone of AWESOME. It is super funny, in the dark comedy sense. I just thought it was so clever and interesting the whole way through. If you enjoyed In Bruges, give it a go. There is a lot of killing and stuffs, so if that's not your thing, maybe pass. Oh and McDonagh brought back Colin Farrell, mmm. If that isn't enough...
The Master
No idea what happened, ever. I still don't know if there was a point or story or anything to this movie. Yes, the cast was pretty kick-ass, but without a good or understandable story, what is the point? I understand the movie is about scientology... But I don't understand the concept/point to the movie itself. If anyone watched this movie, I'd love to know what you guys thought. I even Googled the movie afterwards just to see if I could figure it out, but no. Didn't work.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
I'd been waiting for this movie FOREVER. And it was so worth it. I loved loved loved this book, so I was super nervous about the movie. But I think it was done super well. Logan Lerman was just perfect and adorapibbles. The music was great just like in the book. If I had any problem, it was Emma Watson's accent, which I expected. So I didn't mind it much. If you loved the book, you should definitely check it out. It really lives up to the book. Even if you haven't read the book, the movie was great, but read the book first!

Alright you guys, think I'm gonna go watch another movie now! ;)
