Friday Favorites: July 2012 Movies (Superhero Edition)
Another month down! I can't believe there is only one more month of summer... I don't want it to end! Amazing enough, I've acutally been pretty busy which has made the summer go by uber fast. Unfortunately, I had no access to the interwebs last Friday, so I completely missed my FF... I was going to make a whole post all about my beloved Batman.. Cause you know that movie about him just came out. And he's my main squeeze. There weren't too many movies to go see this month, but there were a couple that were awesome! And of course I made sure to check those out ;)

Yes, I had to... Now let's begin!
The Amazing Spider-Man
Amazing is an understatement. I went in with pretty high hopes, even though I very much disliked the last Spider-Man franchise. The fact that the leads were played by Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, I knew that at the very least I would enjoy watching them be adorable together. But the movie was so well done and cast! Sally Field and Martin Sheen as his aunt and uncle, perfect. Dennis Leary is one of my favorites. I am not too familiar with Rhys Ifans, but he was fantastic too. Putting together a great cast in superhero movies is very important. Sometimes when you have a great script, it does half the work. But superhero movies can seem redundant, so the cast is really important. Toby McGuire never really cut it for me, and I lurve Andrew Garfield, so it made so much better.

If for some crazy reason you did not know him before, you definitely will from now on. One of my best friends had no idea about him and is now obsessed. I was like... Where were you for The Social Network? But I love all the love he's been getting cause hopefully that means we will see much more of him in the future. And we know we will definitely be getting 2 more Spider-Man movies with him!
There have been so many superhero movies lately, but somehow they have all been working so well. I don't know if it's just because we are at a time and place where we could all use a superhero, whatever it is, I am loving it! Spider-Man had the comic book feel where it was bright and funny, much like The Avengers. I think after Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, superhero movies are trying not to be so dark. It's a great action movie and definitely something you could go see with friends or family. If you haven't seen this movie yet, go watch it!
The Dark Knight Rises
So... I've only been waiting for this movie the moment I stepped out of the theater after The Dark Knight. I couldn't stop myself from having high expectations, because I don't think I've ever loved a superhero or franchise more. I can honestly say that I...... LOVED this movie. It was the perfect ending for the trilogy and just brought the whole story together. They brought in elements from both of the previous movies to really ties things in together, but you weren't lost if you hadn't watched the previous movies. My friend I saw it with had never seen Batman Begins, but she really enjoyed the movie. I know a lot of people didn't realize The Dark Knight was a sequel for whatever reason, but Batman Begins is also a great movie, and everyone should watch it.
Bane was the perfect villain for this movie, as he is so different from Scarecrow and Joker. There was a serious plot twist which I did not see coming at all, which I thought was brilliant. My only problem was Anne Hatheway.. But I think I mentioned I would feel this way. I am not a fan of Catwoman, and definitely not a fan of her Catwoman. It should have began and ended with Michelle Pfieffer. That is honestly my only complaint about the movie.

The fact that Crane(Scarecrow) made appearances in both movies, points to the fact that if Heath Ledger was still alive, his Joker would definitely have made an appearance. I wish that were the case.
This was another movie where the casting, aside from Catwoman, was very much on point. I love Tom Hardy, and he went all in for Bane which made him awesome. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, yes, yes, and more yes. Plus, there was an adorable cameo from my love Will Estes which made me cheese so hard! Let's not forget the awesomeness that makes the movie. The fabulous Christian Bale always delivers as Batman and he will forever be my favorite Batman. I feel like he never gets enough credit since people always focus more on the villain, but there are no villains without Batman. Also, I adore Alfred, Lucius, and Gordon. I was very pleased with the end. I hope to see it a few more times in the theater followed by buying it for my collection :D

I would like to take a moment to say my heart goes out to all the victims in Colorodo. I cannot believe someone would do something so horrific. I honestly don't even have words... My thoughts and prayers are with them all.
Have you check out these movies yet?
What did you think about them? Love it/Hate it?!
