There hasn't been much insight to Disney's new Oz: The Great and Powerful, since we found out about the casting. The fact that there will be a new take on the classic Wizard of Oz seems to be a very heavy load to take on. But from the way James Franco and Mila Kunis talks in this behind-the-scenes, they sound convincing that it is a completely different take on the classic.
Check out the clip here:
From the video, we get a bit of an idea of what the movie will be about, but we don't actually get to see much. Aside from the few shots of Franco and Kunis riding a carriage. The one thing I enjoyed about this clip is how both actors talk about how much the classic stories and movie meant to them.
I must admit, I've actually never seen the original The Wizard of Oz completely through, so I don't have much to base things off of. However, I have seen Wicked, and love it. I am really interested in seeing what this movie will be like. I will explain a bit more after I share with you the new poster that was released about a week ago.
Even though I had kept up with the casting of this movie, I oddly had no idea that it was a Disney film. I thought it was going to be a dark take on the classic, which from the clip above seems to still be the case... But after all the movies that Franco and Kunis have starred in the past few years, I am just surprised to see both of them in a Disney film.
Now about the poster, a cross between Up and Alice in Wonderland? The poster is filled with what we all know about the classic, can you spot them? Even with the new poster and clip, I still feel rather in the dark about the film. Hopefully, there will be a trailer on the way as the director Sam Raimi will be at Comic-Con tomorrow to talk about the film. Fingers crossed! I'd also like to see a glimpse of Michelle Williams!
Also did you guys know there are two other Oz-related projects in the works? Dorothy of Oz, an animated movie with Lea Michele as Dorothy. Along with a clay-mation verision?
